The Old Dairy Brewery Team
An International Influence
With an American brewing team, and good old British know-how in the back office, the Old Dairy has a wealth of knowledge and experience. Our tastes aren't restricted to US and UK brews, though. We keep an eagle eye out for interesting beers from all corners of the globe, using them as inspiration for our next speciality brew. Whether its a traditional English Ale, an American IPA, a Belgian Saison or a Russian Imperial Stout, you can be sure that an Old Dairy beer will tantalise your taste buds!
Meet the Team
Certainly knows his stuff!, Wes gained an interest in brewing early on and following on from his English degree he returned home to Minnesota and found work in his local craft brewery. He then returned to the UK to study brewing and distilling at one of the world’s leading universities in this field, Herriot Watt. Since then he has worked for Charles Wells in Bedford but became a small fish in a big pond and needed to express his creative side and have more input to his own destiny.
“Old Dairy is a perfect fit for me as I can go wild and experiment with all sorts of styles and make my mark”
Paul trained as a chef back home in Chicago and travelled to Europe regularly back to his place of birth in Lithuania. He decided to move to the UK a few years ago and started to develop a keen interest in brewing. As well as his full time job in a kitchen he found work on his days off working for free for Redemption brewery in London. His talent for brewing was quickly recognised and was taken on full time and trained to brew. We are lucky to have Paul in our team, he is a really hard worker and dedicated family man.
Jack of all trades, master of none. Always keen to get stuck in and has managed to surround himself with a top team that all make him look good.
Export & Marketing
A real ale buff through and through. Key player in the local CAMRA group and works very closely with the Chamber of commerce and all the professional parts of the business. In her spare time Ginny looks after all of our export business as well as our marketing and our packaging requirements. She is a busy person!
With a head for figures, Jo keeps the boss in check. Her main role is accounting but she covers most aspects of the business and helps out in all areas from serving in the shop to helping the boss to steer the ship on a daily basis . As you can see from her picture she is a little shy? Yeah right!
Certainly not afraid of work Tom will have a go at most things and makes sure all the beer goes out on time. He is the strong silent type and helps everyone and anyone, from bottling and filling kegs to chipping in with the brewers, driving the van and delivering beer on the dray run. A key member of the team right there, without this man there would be just emptiness and sadness.
All things sales, the lovely Anthea covers all sales areas from telesales to field sales. A very friendly lady that seems to have the ability of remembering every customer individually and they all love her. Having run her own pub in the past she has a real understanding of the issues faced by our customers and will pull out all the stops to ensure they get what they want.
A proper beer enthusiast. Having worked in and manged pubs and bars, Alex is fully au fait with the business but more than that, he absolutely loves it. There seems to be no beer that Alex has not tried and no brewery he has not heard of. He has his finger on the pulse of the industry and helps to point us in the right direction. Despite all the beer he manages to keep himself fit too, how the heck he manages that we have no idea?
Lugging all those heavy barrels around and dropping them into cellars takes a lot of strength and fitness. His heart is as big as his shoulders though and a real gentle giant. Ed knows all of our customers and is the face of the business making this a very important role.
Toby is our newest and most versatile team member and works in all areas of the business. With a sales background his focus is on telesales but also works on a dray run a couple of days a week, and on top of that helps out in the brewery and the shop too. He is not afraid to muck in when needed, in fact he wouldn’t have it any other way. He is great to have around the office, as he has a wicked sense of humour and loves nothing more than winding the boss up.
